Her name was Emily, Emily Elizabeth Lombardi, and I loved her with my heart and soul. I was 8 years old, and I got so mad whenever anyone called her Eel. It wasn’t her fault she had unfortunate initials.
We were in the 3rd grade at St. Joseph’s School, and I would watch her every single day when she arrived at school walking with her older brother who was in the 6th grade. He was huge, and he glared at anyone that he caught looking at his little sister.
She had long dark hair. It was cut perfectly straight like a curtain of melting chocolate down her back, and her bangs didn’t quite touch her glasses. I talked to her the first time when her glasses were dirty, and she couldn’t find a tissue to wipe them. I always had tissues with me, mom never let me leave the house without them, so I gave her one.
My stomach filled with butterflies when she said, “Thank you”.
She didn’t say, “Thank you, Gabriel.” But that was OK. She didn’t need to know my name to make me smile. At least she didn’t laugh at me when I stepped away, so she could get in the door, and stumbled like her friends did.
I was pretty sure she liked me too. Emily Elizabeth never laughed at me. I cried for a week when her family moved to Florida.

Notes: Healing blood is a common theme in the Heroes fandom, so I opted for a graphic instead of a fic. Feel free to download it.
