thewatchmaker: (Glaring)
It's a small, small world. I found out that although California is a huge state that the same circle of people will inevitably meet. One of my real life best friends is [livejournal.com profile] winterbubbletea. I've known her for going on 4 years now. We have spent many a night geeking out on Star Trek, and we've been each other's salvation through a few periods of insanity. I was even at her graduation when she got her MA in Education. My sister and I drove up from San Diego for the event. Dear god it was hot out on that lawn at Cal Poly that day.

I met a lot of her friends including - [livejournal.com profile] oshunanat aka [livejournal.com profile] ikillforihop - at the graduation. We even talked, and my sister has even spent a day with her at Disneyland. I just think it's funny how tiny the internet is. How you can quite accidentally meet the same people in the flesh that you do on line years later.

Funny how that works isn't it?

I'd like to thank [livejournal.com profile] punk4life1315 for letting me know I was using one of her icons. I try to always give credit, but sometimes I snatch an icon from someone who hasn't credited. When I do that, I always post on the icon the following:

If you made this, please let me know, so I can credit you.

If I don't have anything listed in the credit, that usually means that I made the icon (quick cropped some picture). As a writer and as someone who has begun dabbling in icon making, I know how important it is to give credit where credit is due. So please do not hesitate to let me know if I'm using something of yours.

Thanks,

3 years ago I created this LJ and posted my character application for an LJ RP. I didn't play there long, but I kept Sylar going for all this time. This will be post #1001.

In those years I've come to know my muse well. He's set up shop in his own section of my brain, and I pretty much let him have his way. In the last year he's fractured a bit, and I've created AU versions of him to explore in RP and writing - [livejournal.com profile] gabrielisgray was first because he was tired of being a tag in Sylar's LJ. Then there was [livejournal.com profile] drgabrielgray inspired by Pathology, and the most recent addition is [livejournal.com profile] ohnombrains who gets to be a snarly bastard without the 3 years of interaction that has changed [livejournal.com profile] thewatchmaker so much. [livejournal.com profile] ohnombrains also gets the fun of being the fangy vampire version of the muse for [livejournal.com profile] masquerademix.

I started out shipping Sylar/Eden, then moved onto Sylar/Elle. Now I'm a die hard Sybriel and Petlar writer/RPer. He's changed so much in the past 3 years.

Some Stats:
Fics written - 127 not counting any of [livejournal.com profile] gabrielisgray's fic.
Drabbles - 27 from Sylar's POV.
RP I play in - [livejournal.com profile] heroesreduxrpg [livejournal.com profile] letsbbadguys [livejournal.com profile] masquerademix and [livejournal.com profile] rp_shadesofgray
Verses - hell if I know
Twitter - Been there for 19 months with almost 63K RP tweets

I thought that with Heroes' cancellation that Sylar might go quiet, but he hasn't. I'm happy for that. I enjoy writing the twisted fuck.

Here's to another year!

Sorry for the lack of fic. Snot Monsters have eaten my brain. I am to the dregs of the flu where you have the hacking dry tickle coughs, but I am simply uninspired to write anything. Hopefully I'll get a nudge of creativity back some time this weekend. One of my favorite authors and friends is coming to spend the weekend while they're in town for a book signing next week, so hopefully a little shared writers' time will help me get going again too on the fic and my original work. Both are suffering while I'm under the weather.

Looks like I need to set the record straight on some stuff. I've had three people tell me this weekend that they've been warned about me, but they wanted to hear my side of things. That was cool of them, and I appreciate that so much.

So here we go.

1 – I am a serious role player, but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy some cracky fun from time to time. However I do not like to see a fandom character ruined by bad RP. If you play a fandom character badly, I will not read what you write. I will not RP with you, and I will not follow you on twitter.

2 – I will NEVER tell you who you can RP with or talk to. I don’t care who your friends are. I don’t care if you like me or the people I RP with. RP is RP and RL is RL. Who you want to associate with IC and OOC is up to you.

3 – If someone says I hurt them, chances are they had problems telling the difference between IC feelings and OOC feelings. If you promise not to send me DM/IM/PMs offering to do dirty things with me – as in ME not my character – you don’t have to worry about that. On second thought don’t send that stuff to my characters either.

4 – If you can’t take Sylar being mean to you, put on your big girl panties and grow up. It’s RP. He’s a villain. He’s not going to be nice to everyone. I’m role playing for my enjoyment not yours. If you don’t like what you see/read, stop looking. I’m not your property to be pawed at or used as a pawn.

That’s about it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I’ve set the comments on this to screen.

I've finished the 100 Drabbles of Summer.
I'll finish the Letter Blog tomorrow.
I could go back and finish the TV meme that I dropped the ball on, or look for something more writing oriented. I liked the Letter Blog a lot, even if some of the prompts were badly - and I mean BADLY - worded.

Anyone know of something to keep me pulling my hair out for a few more weeks?

I fear that I may be the bad RPer. I lashed out in earlier posts at Chickies #1, 2 and 3. By doing that I may have frightened another RP partner by making her think she couldn’t tell me what she was really feeling about our game and real life issues she is dealing with. I hope that isn’t the case, and if it is, Christ I suck ass.

I don’t rant unless you’ve got it coming, and you’re a really, really bad player. I reserve that for the stalkers, the Mary Sues and the people who can’t tell game from life.

If you’re someone I RP with and made friends with outside of game, I hope you know that you can tell me the truth about everything. I might be hurt for a little bit, but I can grow the fuck up and deal with it. I’ve looked back on a recent conversation, and I’m not happy with what I said there.

I do feel like I’ve crossed the line, and I’m sorry.

So a few days ago a friend of mine thought they were doing me a favor by buying me a "get followers" package for Twitter. Seems you don't need a person's log in information for that. You can get one for anybody, and have them follow any account w/o being asked.

All I can say is thank god I don't have to follow all of them back, but I'd have rather gotten them the old fashioned way. It's like being followed by a never ending horde of Tribbles.

I can't turn the damn thing off either, so I hope it doesn't run forever. I've been trying for days to shut it down, but I can't because it was paid for.

Oh well. Whatever.

Thanks friend. I know you meant well. I still love you.

I made 3 of the best friends of my life through RP and a love of Buffy and Highlander. The Five as we all ourselves still talk almost daily on line. Two of us (including my sister) live in the US, and the other three in the UK. We share a love of the original fandom that brought us together, and the sisterhood we have formed over the years. The Five of us have been together since 1999. That's an incredibly long time.

I've made so many awesome friends in the Heroes fandom, and some of you are my family too. I have new sisters around the world that I talk to everyday, and we will always be family. I don't have a cute name for us. But you know who you are.

We've been through hell and back together, fighting off the drama llamas...

I love you guys.

Always will.

The end of a series doesn't spell the end of a fandom. TOS was killed by NBC too, before most of my friends were born. I saw it in reruns, and it was my first fandom. I wrote fanfic before I knew what it was in school to keep my mind busy. When Buffy was canceled I didn't cry, because it was time. When Angel was taken from us far too early I did. I'm still pissed at Joss for killing both my boys in the end, Lindsey and Wesley.

I still hate Scifi for killing Farscape when they promised us 2 more seasons, then changed their minds. Farscape will always be the best show they ever had on the air. It was so much better than any of the Stargates, and it was certainly better than what they did to BSG.

FOX screwed with me three times - Profit, Firefly and Drive. I still watch Bones, Fringe and Glee there, but they will never get me to devote myself to a fandom. No Fringe, Bones or Glee fic has ever spilled from my brain, and no friendships were forged for those programs.

I will miss the hell out of Heroes. Sure they fucked it up royally with plotholes you could steer a planet through, but for one hour a week, I got to escape with Sylar, Peter and miss the Heroes that shouldn't have been killed off.

My muse still lives. As a matter of fact, Sylar's sharing brain space with Peter now. Go fig...

I think I'll always write Heroes fic, just like I still write Star Trek.

The Watchmaker is not going anywhere.

Thanks!

I got a request for a full manuscript for my Urban Fantasy novel set during the Great San Fransisco Earthquake. I am putting the novel I've been working aside for a week (hopefully that's all) to rewrite the end of the requested manuscript.

If I'm RPing with you, I may be slow in my replies. Editing uses a different part of the brain, and it's hard to shift back to creative/musing...

For those who don't know how finding an agent works:

1 - you send a query letter to a million agents
2 - some of them ask for partials - pages, chapters, samples
3 - you sit around on your ass for months waiting for replies
4 - a few request the full (the entire manuscript)
5 - you wait, you get depressed, you get hopeful, you WAIT
6 - if you don't bag an agent, you start all over again after you rewrite the novel or write a new one.

I know it's been forever since I wrote a fanfic. My real writing is taking up a lot of my time. I'm RPing in between, because let's face t I like RPing. It clears my mind, and helps keep the creative juices flowing. I will hit 40K words in the first draft of the novel I'm working on by Saturday of this week. I am going to try to sneak in some fic soon. Sorry that all you're getting is twitter feeds here in the LJ.

I've been doing a lot of work on my novel the past couple of weeks, and my muse has been left to fend for himself. Then earlier this week my dad had a small stroke, so my mind has been elsewhere. There should be a fic posted this weekend though. I've been neglecting poor Sylar. He's getting snarly.
