Chapter: 7/7
Her heavy buckled boots were mere inches from my face as I writhed in pain on the floor as she straddled me. I'm sure some men might have found it a glorious position to be caught in, between the knees of a beautiful woman. But I wasn't impressed. Clawed fingers gripped the back of my head by the hair, and twisted me back so I’d be forced to look up into her ice blue eyes. I could feel the bones in my neck crack and shift as she did it.
“Are you going to break my neck then?” My tongue darted out to lick my very dry lips. “Aren’t you even curious to see if I live or die from this?”
“Not really,” she said her words clipped short. “You threatened to kill me. Curiosity is not something I live for unlike you Sylar. You never should have started this with me.”
My DNA was twisting and protesting as the virus slithered over it like a cloak of thorns. The pain was excruciating as it ran down the back of my legs. It would have been a kindness for her to blow a hole in my skull or snap my neck. I needed to focus. Needed to take control of what was happening to me.
I was not a puppet. Every trick I’d picked up had been learned and adapted to. Yes there were occasional complications when one power would cancel out another or require a part of my brain that was already in use. But I would master her power as well. It was my imperative after all.
There was too much of it though. Too many things to adjust to, and I needed to just figure out what I really wanted. Drinking blood was not something I wanted to do. Death by sunlight another thing to be avoided.
Suddenly the light in the shop grew too bright, as my eyes adapted to become like hers. I could see so much better than I ever had before. Control, I had control of it now. The eyes were really all I wanted from her. The rest I already had in one form or another.
“So you are going to live. We cannot have that. I am going to break your neck now Mr. Sylar. You cannot be allowed to live.”
“Neither can you,” I said in a hushed whisper of my own as I let the raging inferno of nuclear energy free. The heat vaporized her and everything else around me. When I got to my feet, the vampire was gone, my father’s shop was gone, and so was the entire block. Her skull was blackened from the blast and all that had survived it. “We could have been friends. All you had to do was play nice.”
