I felt like Sally Field at the Academy Awards. She liked me. She really liked me. Amelia wasn’t pretending to care. If she had been, she wouldn’t have shot me to save me from turning. No the vampire queen cared. For the first time someone who knew what I was capable of believed in me and wasn’t afraid.

There was a spring in my step as I walked into my office the next morning. I’d spent the wee hours of the morning plotting how I would be able to help Amelia have her revenge. I knew just what power I’d need to make it work. I just had to get her to walk through my door.
