I would be RPing Sylar if he looked like Danko, because I think his character is fascinating. I don’t play him because Zach is pretty. That isn’t why I like him. (It doesn’t hurt, but it’s not what’s important to me.) Who the character is on the inside is what matters to me as a role player and as a writer.
How many little fangirls rushed to start RPing Spock when Zach was cast? A hell of a lot more than did it for Nimoy, and they don’t do it because they like Spock or they want to explore Spock’s depth of character.
They do it because they want to pretend to be in Spock’s pants or have him out of them with someone else.
Same goes for Sylar. There are bad RPers, bad fanfic writers and more who only are drawn to Sylar because Zach is pretty. They ignore that Sylar’s a goddamn serial killer who until NBC canon fucked him up LOVED killing.
I don’t ship Sylar with anyone for a reason. He’s broken. He’s a killer. He’d eat you after he fucked you anyway and not in a way you’d like. Ask Elle. She knows.
Don’t lobotomize the character.
If you’ve dumbed down a character so much that it’s not the real character anymore, please make an original. It’s easy. You find a hot picture. You make sure EVERYONE loves your character and WANTS them, and you name them Edward Cullen or Mary Sue.
There are a few characters that are sacred to me, one of those is Spock. If I ever read that Spock is curled in a ball crying because he’s not getting laid again, when he didn’t do that for his Mother or Vulcan, I’m going to scream. It’s wrong. It’s out of character. It’s a mockery of one of the greatest characters ever created.
Sylar isn’t sacred. Hell he’s not even sacred to Kring with what they’ve been doing, but Spock is. Do not ruin Spock with your emo bullshit. Go hang out on Potter Sues with the rest of the crap fic writers.
