I was chatting with the LJ developers about including role-playing in the search categories for LJ. These guys are awesome, and we had a long chat on the subject. Not surprisingly they didn't realize there was RP outside of video games and paper/dice. Now they know what we do around here.

They came up with a few ideas on what to call the category, but they want our help to vote for it. So please go to this entry and vote in the poll.

Thanks and please spread the word in your RP journals!

My muses are arguing. I’ve had Sylar for over three years now, and he’s pretty much corralled the others into submission. Peter’s [livejournal.com profile] italianeaglesct been around for a year in this incarnation.

My original Peter [livejournal.com profile] impeterpetrelli muse died a horrific death because I gave into other peoples’ wants/needs where he was concerned, and after a few months of that I had to kill him off. Funny how the same thing happened with my original Nathan [livejournal.com profile] dontflywithme too, but I never made Sylar RP anything he didn’t want just because I was begged to do it.

New Peter is not a pushover. He doesn’t like to take shit from Sylar. So right now they are having a snarling match in my head because I want to write the missing scene where Nathan dies.

This morning I watched “I am Sylar” for the first time in close to two years, so I could make sure I got the details right. I hated watching the destruction of Sylar in Fugitives. It made me sick to watch it the first time on TV, and I’ve only watched the DVDs once.

Today I didn’t have the option to avoid it. But when it came time to watch “An Invisible Thread”, I had to put it off until tomorrow because Peter doesn’t want to watch Nathan die.

For fuck’s sake, Peter, it’s canon. It happened. Move on. You got over it after 10 years behind the Wall with Sylar. Let Sylar tell the parts of the story we didn’t get to see. It should have been the battle of the fucking century.

Now they’re both hissing like cats in my head.

Sylar is reminding Peter that he can be killed off and replaced like the other Peter was.

Peter’s just pulled his pants down to moon Sylar.

Yep that’s mature.

*sighs* Muses

I don’t know what happened with Twitter RP, but it’s turned into the 24/7 Hump-o-Rama. I am so sick of watching characters bumping uglies. What happened to telling stories? I am not anti-smut. I enjoy RPing it on Twitter and on LJ, but it is not the reason I RP.

I RP to explore my characters and their environment. I want them to meet new people and encounter new challenges. Filling my timeline with constant fucking does neither of those things.

I suppose in a lot of ways that I’m very old fashioned. My characters do not fuck around. They have relationships. They do not cheat on their significant others. If there is a spark of chemistry with a new character, I will make a new version of my character to explore that. I don’t engage in multiple partners and verses on Twitter. It’s too hard for my readers to keep track of who I’m involved with. Breaking them apart makes it easier for them and for me.

On LJ that’s not as hard because the comms and groups are clearly delineated. In Group 2 Sylar is with Peter. In Group 1 Sylar is with Gabriel. In Group 3 Gabriel is with Elle. It works for me.

I think there’s also a part of that identifies with Sylar’s need to be special. How special is it to watch Character A who is supposed to be in love with Character B fucking every other version of Character B they encounter on Twitter? I just don’t like it.

But that’s my own personal deal. I don’t expect anyone else to jump on my bandwagon with me.
