Chapter: 3/7
It was warm in my shop when I got there from being shut up all day. The musky smell of old wood and the cleaners I used to fix clocks filled the air. Dozens of them ticked and tocked as I came in. A cuckoo clock sounded the hour, bright yellow, red and green feathers telling the world that it was midnight. Hopefully the owner would come back for that one soon. It was obnoxious as it was bright.
Closing the door behind me, I pressed my hand against the glass after locking it up tight. I could hear no one outside that didn’t belong there. As I peered into the darkness, I made a promise to myself to hunt someone with night vision.
I padded through the shop, grabbed a bottle of water from the small refrigerator and made my way up to my dingy little apartment. Yes the most powerful creature in New York was living in a cramped flat above his dead father’s clock shop. Stretching out on the narrow bed, I used my power to untie my shoes and sent them across the room to the corner near my small TV stand.
The TV didn’t work anymore. Not that I really cared. Someday I’d be able to leave this place, but for now it was the safest place for me to hide. Not many people knew who Sylar really was, and anyone who did wouldn’t expect me to hide in my own home.
Outside the fire escape creaked. It was barely more sound than a roach made skittering on glass, but I knew it was her. She came in through the window before I could scramble to the door. Bullets hit the door near my hand, making me jerk away.
“Now,” she said with her strangely accented voice. “What shall we talk about?”
